Since yesterday was October 1st, that means I can officially start talking about all things fall-related right? Especially tackling my fall cleaning checklist. The one that it will be focusing on today is the outddor list.

That’s what I will be sharing with you guys today! Just some things that we do every fall to get prepared for winter outside.

We like to complete these tasks as soon as the temperature drops, for us that will be this coming weekend, since it is still 87 degrees here in Kentucky. We don’t wait too late because it isn’t fun doing yard work when it’s freezing outside.

Final Mowing and Trimming.

We may still be mowing our yard for a couple more weeks but we like to do one last trimming of the shrubs, bushes, and trees if needed. We do tend to get quite a bit of ice here in the winter so it’s always best to go ahead and trim any dead branches away to keep them from falling from the ice. This will also include trimming back our garden as well.

Put Away Summer Items.

We go ahead and put away any of the kids’ summer toys and things that they will not be using any longer. We keep out their bikes and riding toys but things like sprinklers and water toys go up. Go ahead and put away any furniture that isn’t going to be used.

Clean Up That Grill!

Another thing on our list is to get our grills cleaned up. We have a large propane grill and also a small charcoal grill, we are going to be emptying all of the ashes and hosing them down for the wintertime. The propane grill will be put in storage for the winter, our gas grill will be cleaned and covered but put back on our porch. It has come in handy in the past when our electric was out for ice.

Clean Out The Garage!

We don’t have a garage but I thought I would add it to the list. This is a good time to get the garage cleaned out and reorganized. I love this garage organization system. With this, you’ll have plenty of space to hang those rakes and snow shovels.

Outdoor Cleaning

Next, you should tackle outdoor cleaning. Power wash any porches if needed. Clean your shutters and gutters. Clean outdoor windows. This is how I love to clean our outdoor windows. It is so simple to use, just hook to your garden hose and spray!

I hope this post inspires you to get those winter preparation items finished up this fall! We will be knocking these things off of our list this weekend.

Be on the lookout for my fall indoor list soon. It should be up later this week!
