I'm not necessarily a morning person, I'm not a night person either though. I'm more of a 10am person. With 3 kids that obviously doesn't work for me. In order to help our mornings go more smoothly, I do these 3 things.
Wake Up Earlier
This will look different for everyone but it is so good to wake up a few minutes before your kids. You won't be rushed to get yourself together. I only need to wake up about 10 minutes earlier than my son. That's plenty of time for me to throw on some clothes, brush my hair and get myself awake.
This is my favorite one. Do as much preparation as you can the night before. This means that before my son goes to bed we: Lay the next days clothes and shoes out. (We have almost missed the bus because of a lost shoe.) Get all paperwork signed and all items in his bookbag, the bookbag is put right next to the door. If he is taking lunch everything is made and ready. I do as much as possible the night before (including baths) and it saves us so much time. That means that we can sleep for a few extra minutes in the morning.
Don't Get On Your Phone
How many times have you gotten on your phone before going somewhere and ended up being late? That is the worst time killer that you can do in the mornings! Start your morning our unconnected. Don't let yourself get on your phone until after breakfast, that way you've had time to get awake, get the kids off to school and now you can take a few minutes to check out the latest on Instagram
I promise you that if you just take 1 week and do all preparation the night before you will find that you have so much more time in the mornings.
